Software
We offer three software platforms commonly used in forensic and toxicology analysis to compliment our wide range of gas phase instrumentation. These include Xcalibur, a general purpose GC and GC/MS software commonly used in drug chemistry and trace analysis laboratories. In addition to Xcalibur, we offer ToxLab and ToxLab Forms, two software platforms that are specifically designed for toxicology analysis.
Xcalibur
Xcalibur is ideal for handling unknown bulk drug identification because of its flexibility in doing qualitative analysis. Searching for peaks manually is facilitated through the powerful Qual Browser application within Xcalibur, which can confirm manually identified unknown peaks through automated library searching. Once identified manually and confirmed through the library search, the identified peaks can be easily labeled on the chromatogram.
Xcalibur also has the ability to incorporate spectral library searching with automated chromatographic peak identification, fully automating the process of unknown drug identification. The unknown compounds Xcalibur identifies can be displayed using customizable report templates, which can also display calculated concentration values if quantitation is necessary on the sample.

ToxLab Forms
The 2.5 version is the latest release of our popular ToxLab Forms software package used primarily in toxicology labs for routine drug confirmations. Our goal in creating this software was to create a workflow for routine toxicology laboratories that would be fast and easy to learn and use. We did this by including everything you would expect a GC/MS software to have, such as ion ratio calculations based on batch calibration, flagging of results that have failing ion ratios or quantitate above the carryover limit or upper limit of linearity, as well as flagging QC and calibrator samples that do not quantitate within the allowable range that you set.
New features and improvements to the latest versions include the following:
- Method Forge, a feature which uses raw data files to automate method processing creation.
- Improvement to the batch editor making it more flexible than in previous versions.
- Automated unknown identification and semi-quantitation for non-target compounds.

ToxLab
ToxLab 2.0 is our flagship toxicology software for laboratories with high sample throughputs and high productivity demands. The workflow is very similar to ToxLab Forms, so it is a breeze to learn and use, but the real power of ToxLab is in its one of a kind intelligent sequencing capabilities. Turning on ToxLab’s intelligent sequencing allows the software to catch and correct problems as the batch is running, freeing the bench chemist to do other work while ToxLab manages the batch.
An example would be in the case of a carryover specimen coming through the system. ToxLab’s intelligent sequencing will determine that it is a specimen that exceeds the carryover limit, automatically inject solvent blanks until the carryover is cleared out, and only then proceed with the batch, insuring the subsequent specimens are not contaminated. With ToxLab’s intelligent sequencing, you “set it and forget it.”
See the ToxLab brochure specification sheet for more information on the software.
